Frequently Asked Questions

Ruth Cohen Golmant

  • Do you offer online therapy?
Video therapy is here to stay! Anyone can receive counseling via Zoom, Facetime, or by phone. Removing travel time to come to the physical office is very efficient. For couples work, it is possible for each individual to call in from a separate location if needed. I will continue using online therapy post-COVID.
  • What is my financial investment in therapy?
My fee is $150 for a 50-minute session. Many clients choose to buy a package of 4 for the reduced rate of $575.
  • Do you take insurance?
I currently accept Wellmark Blue Cross Blue Shield insurance plans for people living in Iowa. Please contact me to schedule. I accept a limited number of insurance clients per year.
  • What are the benefits of paying out of pocket?
Insurance companies require a mental health diagnosis. Many people don't want this in their health record, or are seeking short term counseling and may not qualify for a diagnosis. The primary reason people come to therapy is because they are unhappy or unfulfilled in some area of their lives. Paying out of pocket keeps their information more confidential and secure.
